|Because I have gotten a lot of questions about articles recently, I figured I should post our submission guidelines. Here are a few pointers for anyone considering submitting an article.
#1 (This one is mandatory) - Your article MUST be typed. I do not type articles. Ever. You can snail mail a typed copy, you can send me a disk or cd with the article, you can email me an attachment or you can paste into the body of an email. But it must be typed.
#2 - I am looking for 4 types of articles. Reference/Research, How-To, Trekking/Scouting/Hunting Stories and the occasional fiction story.
#3 - Pictures, here are some guidelines for pictures:
* If your the photos come from a digital camera, please send them at full size just as they came off of the camera. Do not attempt to resize them (either larger or smaller).
* If you have a scanner and want to scan the photos to send to me, then you should do so in full color at 300 DPI and save them as a JPG at the highest quality setting.
* If you have regular photos, you can always snail mail them to me and I can scan them.
#4 - File types, I prefer that people send their articles in Microsoft Word format. This is the easiest for me to deal with. If you do not have MS Word please save your article as a .RTXT file. I can't accept any articles in Corel Wordperfect or Microsoft Works format. Another option is to paste your article into the Word program on Google Docs and then save it and email it to me.
I hope that this helps, if you are considering sending in an article, please do so!
