When you have a stuck-on mess in the bottom of your corn boiler or pot try this little trick: Empty and shake/dump/scrape the unwanted contents out as best you can then set it over the fire. Let things heat up until you think the gunk is welded in place, then toss a few splashes of cold water in and swirl around. It may take a few times, but it turns the really stuck stuff loose, and beats hearing your partner(s) snicker when he catches you with a Brillo pad!
