I agree with John, I carry a bag of one half parched corn,the rest is made up of what ever you want that is dry,peas,Cranberries,Jerky,etc. The bag weights about a pound. That is good for atleast 4 days, I know, I've done it. If you ever had the chance to examine that diet you will find that it is a VERY healthy one. I don't know of too many people that can't (or shouldn't) go without a large meal for a couple of days. I also bring a copper cup that I can cook a small meal in if I find a very unlucky critter. I hang the meat off my steel ram rod that I have made a fork attachment for, cook it and then put it in with the trail mix. A little cyann pepper and salt and you have a great supper.
