|Purslane for a snack or boiled down as a vegetable.
This weed is found in most gardens and fields. You can pick it (roots and all)as the whole plant is edible. Wash and boil the plants for a tasty vegetable or eat them raw. The seeds can be used as a flour substitute or eat them raw.
I like it raw with a little garlic and pepper. I also put different seasonings on it when boiled (it boils down to the consistency of spinach so harvest accordingly).A little butter helps also.
Purslanes stems are fleshy and often tinged with red.It has paddleshaped leaves.2.5 centimeterss or less long, clustered at the tips of the stems. It's flowers are yellow or pink. It's seeds are tiny and black.
If I don't have a very good garden I know that I will still eat well on this plant which is very tasty and abundent.
Try it you may like it too!
