This really isn't about food, but rather about getting bait to catch food. When I am in the woods and I need live bait to catch walleye, I weave a container out of birch bark strips, shoot a squirrel or two, put the innards and skin(s) in the container, and stake it out in a swampy area in a pot hole or on the edge of a lake. If I've picked the right spot I will have all the leeches I need for bait in the morning. Beats having to haul in live bait.
