I am looking for plans to make a vise. I a going to start a Jaeger rifle soon and the modern gun vises don't seem to be sturdy enough or long enough. Does anyone have information, plans, or pics of vises they want to share?

I think that you are looking for something similar to what is used at Martin's Station. You can contact Billy Heck and see if he has any suggestions.

When I was into wood bows, I built a bench from a 6x12 I found on a cabin construction site, about 4' long.

I put some very stable legs under it, about 4' high.

Then I screwed a carpenters clamp to one end... like this:

I have used it for some gun work and look forward to using it again.

Simple but efficient. Gives you 360 access.

I'll try to get a picture for you.
