I would love to have a list of sources for seeds and their historical context. I want to be able to decide what to grow based on the best info for time period and availability. Help me and others out and lets put together a list as best as we can. Thanks.

Anything by Ann Leighton is a good start:

The Leighton books seem to be the ticket. I bought them and are just now looking at them. I still want other sources. At the school where I teach, the science dept. is starting a walking trail and want me to submit some historical plantings for the project. They want both agricul. and ornam. plants, with a description and history. It will be a growing (no pun int.) project. All help appreciated. Thanks folks.
