Native weekend.

I Have been talking with Bill farmer and Walt waitkus abought Hosting a native weekend At the Fort.

We want to set it up and run it like the woodsman weekend.

We Can have the fort the weekend of July 18th. Any and all feedback would greatly help.

I have been working with Bill Farmer, And Walt Waitkus on putting together a 2009 Native Gathering at FT Boonsborough KY.

The Bill Farmer said we can use the Fort the weekend of July 18th,

So far I have:

Jim Green on Braintaining

Jessie Mudd on warclubs

R. W Stewart on Early tools, And Weaponry

Steve Caudill Will give a 30 Min seminar on Daniel Boons Life With the Natives.

Jay Kell on Natives and the uses of powder horns.

I am also trying to find Someone who can give Seminars on Native Women, and Life in the Village.

I am still working out other details, Any suggestions or If any one has seminar they would like to give or see please email me back

Would love to join you for the Native Weekend at Fort Boonesborough but hubby and I will be busy with Tennessee's Official Outdoor Drama "Liberty" held at Fort Watauga , Sycamore Shoals State Park. During the past year I have started portraying my native Cherokee ancestors, first as my role in the drama and now for the Company of Overmountain Men. I have spent many hours researching info and working on my persona. Hubby has been a reenactor for 20+ years but I have only particiaped since we met 4 years ago. Please keep me posted if you have future events and by the way , come join us at Fort Watauga for the Siege May 16th and 17th if possible.

I do apologize for dropping the ball Hawkey.

The dates have been changed too 1st weekend in april 2010.

All info will be posted buy middle of november.

Is this Native Weekend still happening? I hope so and if so who is running it?
I have a few questions for them about the event and a great way to kick off the first Native Weekend. Any information on this would be great.

The 1st weekend is the Easter weekend. The next wekend is School of the Longhunter and a CLA show at Prickett's. I would hope they would not alow these two programs to clash. Anyhow there is a thread on a School of the Native over on FFolk.
