I added a lot of space to my garden. I built 8 more raised beds and several trellises for peas and beans. I tried a variety of heirloom vegetables and improved my soil with a load of compost from a local supplier. All in all I had great success...even with the tomato blight, I was able to pull fruit early enough and ripen it indoors. The smaller tomatoes were more resistant than the large indeterminant varieties. Otherwise, I had a year with a full freezer, bumper crops, and more than I could possibly use. And I still have winter veggies like leeks, parsnips, kale, swiss chard, beets, and brussels coming ready for harvest. Actually, I still harvested zucchini and eggplant last week.

This is my garden space in June.

This is the view from my garden gate in July. Things are going well.

Harvests like these led to...

Pickles!!!

And squash harvested this week.[/img]
